Before the evacuation of the naval base Hanko in October-November 1940, the gun barrels were rendered unusable - stones, sand were poured into the barrels and a shot was fired. Wagons and battery property were thrown into the sea by Soviets, ammunition was blown up (although local Finns said that 305 mm shells were found in the vicinity of the base until the early 2000s).
