Secret passage - JerusalemNext photo - 100 kb

The underground gallery goes from the entrance of the dungeons to the Western Wall is called the 'Secret Passage'. It was built in the 13th century as part of the retaining structures of the Western Wall. The fact is that in those days the Arabs were actively developing the western part of the upper platform of the Temple Mount and they needed to somehow strengthen the western wall, which seemed not to be designed for weight of new buildings.
