Roman siege camp C - Masada next photo - 124 kb

Classic small Roman camp of classic proportions depicted in the picture. He was surrounded by stone fence about one and half meters height with two gates. Thete are remains of the barracks, warehouses and other installations inside of it. The soldiers lived not in tents, as was customary in the Roman army, but in stone huts with roofs of tent awnings. Before the camp contravalation wall with towers is seen (contra - against, valatio - rampart, lat.)
