During Swedish storm of Narva in 1581 Swedish artillery breached fortress walls within pair a days.  Right after the conquest of Narva Swedes begun to think about modernization of the city fortifications. Old towers were reinforced by cannon bastions, but in the middle of 17 AD Narva fortifications were apparently out of date.
Sight of bastions Paks (Peace) and Victoria (Victory) from the bridge through Narva river in the winter sunrise.
