Trenches

Frontier. The Germans were in the wood just over the road. There was not a snow in winter of 1941 and 1942, but only sand dugs by shell's and bomb's craters everywhere. Soviet infantry buried itself in the earth and made underground passages and fox holes in order to stay alive...
The iron remains were rummaged out by search parties working here during many years.
