Vizborg Castle

Vizborg Castle - VisbyNext photo - 83 kb

Apparently this is all that remains of the once formidable pirate castle. This castle was started construction by the Teutons in the early 1400s (although the date is still controversial). The castle was about of 20x30 meters dimensions, with towers at the corners. The castle was a residence of the royal governors of Gotland, as well as the notorious Erik of Pomerania - pirate and pretender to the Swedish throne.
