The cathedral was originally designed as a monument to all the missed sailors of the Russian fleet. On the marble boards lists of names naval officers who died on duty, and ordinary sailors just as a numbers are curved. In 1930 all these board were removed and used as gravestones at the cemetery, switchboards or construction materials. Today all of them are restored and reading them is a great historical interest.
