Contravalation wall

The wall has a length of about 4 km. Apparently it was not a high - one and half or in some places up to two meters and had many small towers for observation and shooting. It was built for blocking the fortress and not to give to rebels any opportunity for escape or attacks. In the background siege camp located in close proximity to the wall is seen. Josephus wrote that all the 8 camps and walls were built by legionaries in a few days.
