Western part of the dock

There could be up to 15 skerry frigates, medium-sized 3-masted, two-deck cannon ships designed for operations in local skerries inside the dock simultaneously. Sweden realized the need for this kind of ship after the war with Russia of 1741-43. The Mediterranean galleys of Barbary pirates served as the prototype for the ships of the skerry fleet. The two-story barn in the background is a 1945 Valmet ship's workshop. Today it is the same as in 1945, on the top floor there is a sailing workshop.
